1923 Dominion of Canada 25-Cent Shinplaster Campbell/Clark Fractional Note
The face design of the 25-cent fractional note was considerably altered from the 1900 issue. The seated Brittania vignette is replaced by a head and torso vignette located in the centre of the note. The third and final issue of Canada's 25-cent notes was released beginning in 1923 and continued until the Bank of Canada was created in 1935. This issue differed in that it was not only redesigned from its predecessors, but it is also the only one to feature serial numbers. A total of 7 million of these 1923-dated shinplasters were issued before the Bank of Canada took over.
Design
Brittania holding spear and wearing helmet while turned right is featured in the centre of the note. A large "25" counter at the left and the Department of Finance seal at the right.
The note's reverse depicts a composition based on decorative shapes and the value of the banknote : "25 CENTS".
