2006 Canadian 25-Cent Medal of Bravery Quarter Coin (Brilliant Uncirculated)

The Medal of Bravery (French: Médaille de la Bravoure) is a decoration that is, within the Canadian system of honours, the third highest award for bravery. Created in 1972, the medal is presented to both living and deceased individuals deemed to have performed "acts of bravery in hazardous circumstances."

Design

The obverse design features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in right profile at 77 years old, surrounded by the Latin inscription "ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA" with mint mark under the effigy.. This effigy was designed by Susanna Blunt.

Designed by Cosme Saffioti, the coin features a maple leaf, surrounded with two olive braches. It is encircled by the bilingual legend "BRAVERY" and "BRAVOURE" and the facial value.
