Design

The reverse design by Canadian artist Trevor Tennant features a portrait of two orcas swimming just off the coast of British Columbia. The image centres on the two orcas as one leaps above the water and the other prepares to dive. Offering a unique artistic portrayal of both spheres of the marine mammal’s world, the image captures the activities for which this acrobatic ocean dweller is known. In the background we see the rugged and mountainous forested terrain of Canada’s West Coast. The orcas’ characteristic markings, the choppy surface water, and the lush forested background are lent extraordinary detail through the use of various engraving and finishing techniques.
