Design
The reverse portrait design by Canadian artist Bonnie Ross depicts Queen Elizabeth at the time of her coronation. The design echoes the style of The Queen's effigies that have appeared on coins—the face as the central element, shown from the neck up, facing right. The Queen is portrayed with a three-quarter view instead of the traditional side profile, and is flanked by two rows of maple leaves. Her portrait is one of pure elegance as she looks towards the future with quiet certainty—a calm demeanour that inspires hope and confidence at the beginning of a young queen's reign.
