2020 (1945-) Canadian $2 End of the Second World War 75th Anniv/Victory Non-Coloured Toonie Special Wrap Coin Roll

It began as a rallying cry, but became a symbol of all that our nation had given, lost, and overcome through the war.

The Victory nickel was introduced in 1943, a year marked by the darkest period of the Battle of the Atlantic and the successful invasion of Sicily. It was on our 5-cent coin in 1944, when the turning tide of war brought our troops onto the beaches of Normandy and into Northwest Europe. It was our 5-cent coin when we contributed to the invasion of Okinawa in May 1945. And it was still there, in our pockets, on September 2nd, 1945, when Canadians celebrated Japan's formal surrender, and were finally able to think about the transition to peace.

This year, our own past influences the present with the 75th Anniversary of the End of the Second World War $2 commemorative circulation coin.

Each coin features the-iconic "V" for Victory design created by Thomas Shingles in his first year as Master Engraver for the Royal Canadian Mint. The key elements have been re-arranged to fit today's bi-metallic $2 coin — even the morale-boosting message – "We win when we work willingly" - inscribed in International (Morse) Code.

Hold on to bravery with 2020 75th Anniversary of the End of the Second World War $2 Commemorative Circulation Coin.

Features

UNCIRCULATED COINS: Each special wrap roll gives you 25 uncirculated non-coloured versions of the $2 75th Anniversary of the End of the Second World War commemorative coin. The coins are all wrapped together in a custom paper wrap that complements the art.

Design

The reverse pays tribute to the Victory 5-cent coin designed by Thomas Shingles ("T.S."). On the inner core, a "V" for Victory is overlaid with a flaming torch and flanked by maple leaves, while the double dates "1945" and "2020" commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. At the top of the outer ring, two images of a maple leaf appear within the line pattern. The words "VICTORY" and "VICTOIRE" are framed by an inscription in International (Morse) Code; when translated, the dots and dashes mean "WE WIN WHEN WE WORK WILLINGLY" and "LA BONNE VOLONTÉ EST GAGE DE VICTOIRE". At the bottom of the outer ring, the inscriptions "REMEMBER" and "SOUVENIR" are paired with two security marks consisting of a maple leaf within another maple leaf. The obverse features the word "CANADA", the denomination ("2 DOLLARS") and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
