Design

The reverse image by Royal Canadian Mint engraver Konrad Wachelko features six tumbling snowflakes engraved in exceptional detail. The lower right portion of the polished silver field is occupied by the largest snowflake. Its textural, feather-light arms are not precisely symmetrical, lending it a powerful air of realism. Its centre is embedded with an opal white Swarovski Element crystal. It is flanked, to the left and above, by two more large six-sided snowflakes whose centres are embedded with opal white Swarovski Element crystals. In the background of the dynamic design, in the upper right-hand section, three more angled and swirling snowflakes seem to twirl across the coin’s face.

The reverse is engraved with the word 'CANADA' and the date '2012.' The obverse features the face value of '20 DOLLARS' and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
