1974 S United States $1 Eisenhower US Silver Proof Dollar Coin w/ Original Brown Box

United States Mint issued Proof Eisenhower Silver Dollars were produced at the San Francisco Mint and sold to collectors individually from 1971 to 1974. These 40% silver coins are often referred to as “Brown Ikes” in reference to the brown colored boxes within which they were packaged.

Many 1974 S United States $1 Eisenhower US Proof Silver Dollar Coins (Brown Ikes) which have resided in the original packaging will exhibit toning or discoloration. Most times, this may appear as an unattractive, haziness or uneven milky tones. Sometimes the coins do exhibit attractive toning, which can occur with multiple colors or a bull’s eye pattern.

Obverse

Depicts American leader, 5-Star General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower shown on the coin in side profile. The 34th President of the United States of America will forever be associated with his simple, yet effective, campaign slogan “I like Ike.” Fittingly, adding this beautiful coin to your collection will soon have you saying “I like Ike Dollars.” Obverse inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “1971.”

Reverse

Design honors the landing of this United States spacecraft on the moon – which marked the first ever landing of man on the surface of the moon. The design features an eagle hovering over the surface of the moon with an olive branch clasped in its talons. Planet Earth, turned so the United States faces the viewer, can be seen in distant space behind the eagle. The scene is encircled with thirteen stars. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
