One Dollar Silver - George V (1935 - 1936)
Canada's first silver dollar for circulation, also the first commemorative coin, marked the 25th Anniversary of the accession of King George V.
Obverse
Coin depicts the design of King George V, the commemorative side of the coin, with the Latin inscription:
GEORGIVS V REX IMPERATOR ANNO REGNI XXV meaning "George V, King and Emperor, 25th Year of Reign."
Reverse
Features a modern design by sculptor Emanuel Hahn, showing an Indian and a voyageur, a travelling agent for a fur company, paddling a canoe by an islet on which therer are two wind-swept trees. In the canoe are bundles of goods; the bundle at the right has HB, representing the Hudson's Bay Company. The vertical lines in the background represent the northern lights.
Royal Canadian Mint issued 1935 $1 Silver Dollar coin for circulation in 1935. Item comes in circulated condition. Coin may have some toning, wear and/or field scratches.
