2010-P United States 25-Cent Mount Hood/Oregon National Park Quarter Coin (Brilliant Uncirculated)
In 2010, the United States Mint began issuing 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program.
The final coin to be issued in 2010 as part of the American the Beautiful Quarters Program is the 2010 Mount Hood National Forest Quarter. Its official release date is November 15, 2010.
Mount Hood is located in the state of Oregon and contains over 1 million acres of pristine scenery. It received its name in 1792 when Lt. William Broughton named the peak after Lord Samuel Hood, a respected admiral of the British Royal Navy.
Design
Obverse:
John Flanagan's portrait of George Washington (modified by William Cousins) is featured on the obverse. Also seen are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "QUARTER DOLLAR," "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the mintmark.
Reverse:
The reverse design portrays a view of Mount Hood with Lost Lake in the foreground. Inscriptions include MOUNT HOOD, OREGON, 2010 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The coin was both designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.
