'Forget me not!' cried the drowning knight and the name of this springtime wildflower was born. According to legend, a medieval knight was picking flowers for his lady along a riverbank when he fell into the water under the weight of his armour. Ever since, the 50 species of Myosotis have been called 'forget-me-not' in countless countries worldwide and their romantic symbolism for tragedy and faithful love endures to this day. 

These endearing flowers are indeed unforgettable. The blossoms consist of five petals with a delicate yellow centre and measure just 1 cm (.4 in) across, but they grow with such profusion that they blanket the entire area in soft blue, white or pink. This flower's preference is by far the rich, moist soil found along the water's edge and gardeners that match these conditions will be treated to a welcome explosion of colour every spring!
