2018 (1866-) Canadian $50 Puzzle Coin - Fine Silver 1/2 Kilo Coin

They are the snapshots of a bygone era—images that speak to who we were and still are today. Our second puzzle coin set is the story of Canada from 1866 to 1916, told through select photographs from Library and Archives Canada. From a Father of Confederation tothe image of winter in Canada, each puzzle-shaped coin is an exquisite stepping-stone through time, culminating in the selectively gold-plated centrepiece and its depiction of Canada’s political heart during that era: the original Centre Block on Parliament Hill.

A 14-coin puzzle set that pieces together Canada’s first 50 years! Order today!

Design

Your 14-piece puzzle coin set is 99.99% pure silver, with a combined diameter of 123.7 millimetres and a total nominal metal weight of 502.47 grams. Designed by artist Tony Bianco, the center coin design features a gold plated image of the Centre Block of Canada’s parliament buildings which were completed (for the Province of Canada) in 1866, and remained the home of Canada’s federal government until 1916 when all but the Library of Parliament was destroyed by fire. Surrounding the Centre Block of Parliament image, the 13 puzzle-shaped coins feature sepia-toned reproductions of historic photographs from Library and Archives Canada. These images connect to form a visual narrative of the first half century of Canada as a self-governing nation. The obverse of the $50 central coin combines the gold-plated effigies of all three monarchs who ruled from 1866 to 1916:Queen Victoria by Leonard C. Wyon, King Edward VII by G. W. DeSaulles and King George V by Sir E. B. MacKennal. The obverse of each $20 piece features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Packaging

Your completed puzzle comes beautifully packaged in a wooden collector case with black beauty box. Eachcoin is individually encapsulated with a defined space between them, to draw attention to the individual pieces and reduce the risk of rubbing during transit.
