This special 1 oz silver coin commemorates these famous traditional dolls! From the Mayer Mint (Germany)!
The first Russian nesting doll appeared in Moscow in the 1890s. In 1900, these "Matryoshka Dolls" were presented at the World Exhibition in Paris.The clever idea earned the bronze medal and the dolls were catapulted to fame.
The unique oval-shaped coin has been minted to the highest qualityproof standard. The reverse of the coin displays a beautifully coloured traditional Matryoshka doll alongside two smaller engraved Matryoshkas.
Perhaps one of the most interesting things about this coin, however, is how it is presented...
