1904-H Newfoundland 50-Cent Half Dollar Silver Coin (F)
50 Cents - Edward VII (1904-1909)
In an act of 1863 Newfoundland turned to decimal currency and adopted the Spanish dollar as its unit. This made the British shilling equivalent to 24 cents and the sixpence to 12 cents.
H - Mint Mark
The Birmingham Mint issue of 1904 has the "H" mint mark below the oval at the bottom on the reverse. Royal Mint issues have no letter.
Obverse
The obverse was designed and engraved by G.W. De Saulles (DES below bust) and is identical to that of the Canadian issues.
Reverse
The reverse was designed by W.H.J. Blakemore.
