1938 Canadian $1 Voyageur Silver Dollar Coin ICCS Graded MS-63

 

One Dollar Silver - George VI (1937 - 1952)

Standard issue $1 Canadian Silver Dollar coin for circulation. 

 

Obverse

Coin depicts the design of King George VI with the Latin inscription:
GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP: meaning "George VI, by the grace of Gold, King and Emperor of India."
 

Reverse

Features a modern design by sculptor Emanuel Hahn, showing an Indian and a voyageur, a travelling agent for a fur company, paddling a canoe by an islet on which therer are two wind-swept trees. In the canoe are bundles of goods; the bundle at the right has HB, representing the Hudson's Bay Company. The vertical lines in the background represet the northern lights.
