1911 Canada 5 Cents Small Silver "Godless" 25pc Lot (Circulated)

Small 5 Cents - George V (1911 - 1921)

"GODLESS" Obverse of 1911
The new obverse introduced in 1911 was criticized by the public because the Latin phrase "DEI GRATIA" (or an abbreviation for it), indicating that the King ruled by the grace of God, was omitted. The coinage tools were modified during the year and a new obverse with "DEI GRA:" included in the legend appeared on the 1912 issue.

Coin depicts the design of King George V (grandfather of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II) with the Latin inscription:
GEORGIVS V REX ET IND:IMP meaning "George V, the King and Emperor of India."   <<   Latin phrase omitted.

Features 22 leaves, tied at the bottom by a ribbon, and separated at the top by the Imperial State crown.

Lot includes 25 coins of 1911 Canada 5 Cents (Small, Silver) in circulated condition.
